Empty Bowls is a grassroots charity started in 1990 by a high school pottery teacher in Michigan. Guests were served a simple meal of soup and were invited to keep the “empty” bowl as a reminder of hunger in the world. Today, potters across the country support food-related organizations by creating bowls for sale to help end the hunger in their local communities.
Gardner Empty Bowls started in 2011, much as the original Michigan project did, as a small community service project by Spinning Earth Gallery. It has now grown to be an annual event in which local potters, and members of the community pitch in with bowl and soup-making alike. Gardner Empty Bowls is partnering with The Hope Market, a volunteer-based nonprofit food pantry that serves Gardner and outlying communities.
Help fight hunger in our community at our 2025 Empty Bowls! This event is co-hosted by The Hope Market and Spinning Earth Pottery and is held upstairs at The Dolphin Song from 10 am- 3 pm on February 1st, 2025.
